BEHIND THE LENS

Ali Markus has been taking photos since her hands were big enough to hold a camera. She eventually graduated from the small point-and-shoot Nikon she adopted from her mother and filled over and over with fresh rolls of film to bigger and better equipment, and her passion grew with it.

 

In 2008 she also discovered a passion for open-wheel racing, where she took her photography to the track as IndyCar driver Pippa Mann's personal photographer throughout the Month of May at Indianapolis Motor Speedway since 2013.

 

Her photographic style might appear slightly disjointed as it ranges from portraits to sports to weddings to racecars, but the thread that pulls them all together is storytelling--because every face, every foul, every flower and every fender has a story to capture.
